In 2006 senior quarterback Chris Leak led the University of Florida Gators football team to the program’s second national championship. Leak threw for 2,942 yards and 22 touchdowns, guiding the Gators to an 11-1 record under coach Urban Meyer. The Gators won the SEC Championship Game 38-28 against the Arkansas Razorbacks, advancing to a BCS National Championship Game showdown against Troy Smith and the undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes.

Leak and the Gators leapt out to a 34-14 halftime lead thanks to the clutch play of Leak, Percy Harvin, and Tim Tebow. Tebow rounded out the scoring in the fourth quarter, diving for a one-yard rushing touchdown to push the score to its final of 41-14. For their efforts, the Gators were presented with the AFCA National Championship Trophy, also known as the Coaches’ Trophy.

This is a miniature version of the Coaches’ Trophy, which measures 13 ½ inches tall and 6 inches wide when the Waterford crystal football is attached. The crystal football itself measures roughly 4 x 2 inches and comes in a blue display box. The trophy pedestal is inscribed with “The Coaches’ Trophy”, “The National Champion” “University of Florida 2006”, and “USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll”. The AFCA and BCS logos are also present on the black trophy.
