LeBron James earned the first of his four National Basketball Association MVP Awards and his fifth All-Star selection during a 2008-09 season that saw James average 7.6 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.7 steals, and 28.4 points, taking the Cavaliers all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals where they lost in six games to the Orlando Magic. James finished the playoffs with a career playoff-high of 35.3 points per game.
