The 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics were the most recent Olympiad to contest baseball as a medal sport. South Korea and Cuba met in the gold medal game, in a matchup of far-flung foes. South Korea emerged victorious, triumphing 3-2 over Cuba to claim the gold medal. Cuba exceeded expectations in this tournament, using their roster of entirely Cuba-based players to defeat larger, better funded competitors.

This silver medal was presented to Eduardo Paret, a fleet of foot shortstop who played on the 1996, 2004, and 2008 Cuban Olympic teams. The medal shows an engraving of Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, below the text, “XXIX Olympiad Beijing 2008”.The medal is attached to an orange ribbon. This item comes with a LOA from former Major League pitcher Livan Hernandez, who received this medal from Paret.
