The Brazilian National Soccer Team stormed to victory at the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa. The defending Confederations Cup champions overcame a resilient United States team that surprisingly jumped out to a 2-0 lead after 27 minutes through goals from Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey. Brazil began to gel in the second half, however, as Luis Fabiano scored in the 46th and 74th minutes to tie the game. A thundering headed goal from center back Lucio off a corner kick in the 84th minute proved to be the game winner, with Dunga’s XI lifting the trophy after a back-and-forth 90 minutes.
