New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada wore these cleats during the 2011 MLB season, his final in the Major Leagues. Posada, at the veteran age of 39, played primarily as a designated hitter for the Yankees, appearing in 115 games. He was still a productive hitter, swatting 14 home runs with 44 RBI in less than 400 at-bats, as Russell Martin played as the Yankees everyday backstop. Posada’s steady bat helped the Yankees win 97 games and the American League East Division title in a fitting sendoff for one of New York’s most clutch playoff performers. Posada, who played his entire career with the Yankees, saw his number “20” retired by the Bronx Bombers in 2015.
These cleats are Nike Air Max Diamond Elite spikes that display heavy evidence of game use. The cleats have lightweight diamond vent mesh covered padding for ventilation and an internal mesh “bootie” to improve the fit of the spikes. The soles feature a “Pebax” speed plate with nine metal cleats. Posada’s number “20” is embroidered in white on the heel of each shoe. The Nike swoosh is on both sides of each cleat, while Posada’s initials “JP” appear on rears of each cleat and each tongue. These cleats come with a LOA from JT Sports.
