Graded GEM MT 10 by PSA. George W. Bush, the 43rd President of the United States, has placed a bold, blue ink signature on the obverse of this elite, eye-catching collectible. The Chief Executive's penmanship projects from the surface of a tobacco insert-sized, miniature "Allen & Ginter" trading card, which is in turn secured inside a larger, surrounding mount (properly termed a "Frame" by the manufacturer). At the time of this exceptional piece's release, it was billed as the first organized appearance of a U.S. President's signature as a trading card feature. The piece capitalizes on Mr. Bush's baseball roots: the card displays an image of President Bush throwing out the first pitch at Game 3 of the 2001 World Series at Yankee Stadium. (A Topps press announcement at the time of this card's release reminded collectors that "the special moment helped strengthen the American people in the wake of 9/11.") A logo on the card's front declares, "Topps Certified Autograph Issue," attesting to the authenticity of the signature and serving as Topps' COA; this message is reinforced by text on the reverse. The limited-issue piece was reportedly produced in an edition of just 200 examples. A splendid and attractive baseball commemorative – and piece of Americana – in Gem Mint condition.
