David Ortiz and the Boston Red Sox rebounded from a last place finish in 2012 to win the franchise’s third World Series title in nine years during the 2013 season. Big Papi led the way with his 30 home runs, 103 RBI and .309 batting average as the Red Sox won the American League East and defeated the Tampa Bay Rays, Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals to capture the title.

     Ortiz wore this Friday only Majestic Cool Base button-down navy blue Boston Red Sox alternate road jersey during the 2013 season. The Red Sox wore navy blue on the road for their Friday games during the season. “BOSTON” is sewn on across the chest in red and white tackle twill. The bottom front tail has the Majestic tag screen-printed on with a white 1 x 2 ½ inch team strip that reads “34 50 ‘13” sewn on below the Majestic tag. The back of the jersey has Papi’s number “34” sewn on in Red Sox font and “ORTIZ” sewn on in red and white tackle twill. The MLB logo patch is sewn on the upper back neck in red, white and blue. The left sleeve has a circular “B SRONG” patch sewn on above the white embroidered Majestic logo. “Boston Strong” was the rallying cry for the city of Boston following the Boston Marathon terrorist attack on April 15th of that season. The right sleeve has the “2013 POSTSEASON” patch sewn on, indicating that this was issued to Ortiz for the postseason, since they did not wear navy blue during the playoffs.

     The jersey shows light to moderate use and comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (EK 861135) which authenticates this jersey to the September 28, 2013 game at Baltimore that Ortiz did not play in. This was the last regular season series for the Red Sox and this was the only time that navy blue was worn other than a Friday night.
