Former Red Sox slugger David Ortiz got better with age. During the 2013 season, at age 37, Ortiz hit 30 home runs, drove in 103 and hit a robust .309 as he helped Boston win its third World Series in 10 years. Ortiz’s playoff performance culminated with him winning the World Series MVP batting a mind-boggling 11 for 16 with two home runs and six RBI in the Fall Classic
This offered Marucci DO34 model bat was used by Oritz during the latter part of the 2013 season. This bat, with a cupped end, displays heavy use and has slight crack on the handle. The barrel has ball marks, stitch impressions and cleat imprints and there is an impression of a weighted batting donut. The upper handle has a moderate coating of pine tar and the remaining handle has been covered in a spiral bright green LizardSkins tape to enhance the grip. Ortiz’s number “34” is stamped on the knob in black, while other stampings include the date of manufacture “09/23/13”, length “4” and weight “2.3”. Ortiz signed his name in bold silver marker on the black barrel and inscribed “Game Use” and “34”. This bat comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (1B08877) and has been graded a perfect GU 10. There is also a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (C99678) for Ortiz’s signature and inscriptions.
