This baseball was used during the Detroit Tigers game against the Cleveland Indians on May 11th, 2013, and was hit by Miguel Cabrera for the 1,855th hit of his Major League career. Cabrera picked up his hit in the bottom of the fourth, singling against the game’s eventual winner, Ubaldo Jimenez. The Indians emerged as 7-6 victors from this early season contest. Cabrera finished the 2013 season with almost identical statistics to his Triple Crown winning season the year prior, mashing 44 home runs, with 137 RBI and an MLB-best .348 batting average, giving Cabrera his third consecutive batting title. Cabrera also won his second straight American League MVP trophy in 2013, finishing ahead of the likes of Mike Trout, Chris Davis, and Josh Donaldson.

This Official Major League Baseball Allan H. Selig sphere has been signed on the sweet spot in blue pen by Miguel Cabrera, who has inscribed “Career Hit 1855” on the panel to the north of the sweet spot. This item comes with a JSA STICKER ONLY (WP092915) for the signature, and a MLB Authenticated hologram (EK 401103), which dates the use of this ball to the May 11th contest.
