In the end it was all about “Respect” for the Yankee Captain Derek Jeter whose marketing people co-opted the word as a farewell slogan which actually rang true in the way he was treated by fans across the country during his farewell tour. The Boston Red Sox even serenaded him with the song in a pre-game, send- off before his final Major League game which happened to take place at Fenway Park on September 28, 2014. This MLB Authenticated (HZ 518204) Rawlings Alan H. Selig Official Major League ball was used during Jeter’s final game at Fenway when he went 1-2 with an RBI in the game, connecting for the 3,465th and final hit of his career, placing him sixth on the all-time hits list with a .310 career batting average. “The Captain” signed this ball in blue ball point pen on its red-dirt smudged sweet spot. Rubbed down ball shows excellent game use with a wad of infield dirt caked into the seams under Jeter’s signature on the bottom side of the sweet spot and comes with Steiner Sports Memorabilia hologram and sticker.
