Josh Donaldson had been a solid, at times spectacular ballplayer for the Oakland A’s, finishing in the top 10 in MVP voting in both 2013 and 2014. Following the 2014 season Donaldson was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays, and in 2015 he would promptly set new career highs in every category en route to his first MVP Award. Donaldson batted .297 with 41 home runs in leading the league in runs and RBI. At mid-season he was named to his 2nd straight All-Star Game, and agreed to participate in the Home Run Derby for the 2nd time, as well. After out-dueling Anthony Rizzo in the 1st round 9-8, Donaldson would fall to home town hero and eventual HR Derby winner Todd Frazier. Donaldson wore this 2015 American League All-Star Jersey during the Home Run Derby on July 13, 2015 at the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, OH. The jersey, black button-down with red sleeves, features a 2-piece patch across the chest reading “AMERICAN” in white-on-red tackle twill underscored with 9 red stars. The letter “M” is wearing a Cincinnati Reds cap as worn by mascot Mr. Red Legs. “DONALDSON” is stitched across the back in white tackle-twill, above his #20 in white-on-red tackle twill. The Blue Jays logo adorns the left sleeve, just above a stitched Majestic logo. An “ASG 2015” patch is found on the back collar, with the Majestic CoolBase ASG manufacturer’s tag on the front left tail. The jersey is tagged with MLB Authenticated (JB 018654).
