As the first overall player drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Auston Matthews already has some huge expectations. Those expectations are well-earned, as Matthews became the only player in NHL history to score four goals in his first career game. He has dominated at every competitive level, including at the 2016 IIHF Men’s World Championship held in Helsinki, Finland. Matthews wore this dark blue USA jersey while assisting on one goal during the team’s lone exhibition game prior to the start of the tournament, a 3-2 defeat at the hands of host Finland. The size XL jersey, manufactured by K1 Sportswear, features USA in white and dark red tackle twill across the chest, and Matthews number thirty-four on both sleeves and the back in matching style. The back shoulders of the jersey are red, with “MATTHEWS” in white tackle twill on a red nameplate. The sleeves and the tail are both ringed by white and red stripes, while the neck is fronted by a lace-up collar. The K1 manufacturer’s logo is sewn to the back right tail and the jersey has a white snap fight strap on the inside back. An incredibly sharp looking game-worn jersey from a future NHL superstar, this jersey comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Team USA Equipment Manager Scott Aldrich, who has included the official game sheet from the match.
