In 2016, Boston’s beloved DH David Ortiz wrapped up his Hall of Fame bound career in style by surpassing several baseball icons on the career home run list. Each month he surpassed another legend: in July he topped Ted Williams’ mark of 522 career homers; in August he eclipsed Jimmie Foxx and in September it was Mickey Mantle’s turn. On September 12th, Ortiz hit a 6th inning solo shot off Baltimore’s Oliver Drake for career homer number 536, tying him with The Mick at number 17 on the all-time career homers list. This is the jersey Big Papi wore that historic night. The white home button-down jersey has the famous “RED SOX” across the chest in red and navy tackle twill. Red piping rings the collar and front of the jersey. The Majestic label is inside the placket with “#34 ORTIZ 2016 50” stamped onto it. Size “50” Additional Majestic label is located in the lower left front tail. The back has Ortiz’ number “34” in red and navy tackle twill. The jersey shows moderate use with some light pine tar staining throughout and some light turf marks. The jersey has a snag in the fabric on the back to the left of the “3”. To round out this historic gamer, Big Papi has signed the numbers in silver pen adding “Game Used 9/12/16 Final Season HR 536 Ties Mantle”. Fanatics (ZZ0057240) and MLB Authenticated (JB042271) holograms are affixed for the game use and signature.
