Houston Astros star second baseman Jose Altuve wore this 1986 throwback Astros uniform (jersey and pants) against the Texas Rangers on August 6th, 2016. Altuve, hitting third in the order, reached base via walk in this contest, a 3-2 Rangers victory at Minute Maid Park. Altuve, the 2016 American League batting champ, had an incredible sixth season in the Major Leagues, putting up a Triple Crown slash line of .338/24/96 with 30 steals and 42 doubles for the 84-78 Astros. Altuve was named to the American League All-Star team for the third straight season, won an American League Silver Slugger for the third time, and finished third in the AL MVP race behind only Mike Trout and Mookie Betts.   

This offered throwback uniform starts with a pullover Astros 1986 home jersey. This jersey is white, with the lower chest and sleeves boasting the Astros iconic red, orange, and yellow “Tequila Sunrise” striping. A 1986 All-Star Game patch is sewn on the left sleeve next to a Majestic logo. “ASTROS” and a five-pointed star are sewn on the chest in navy and white tackle twill. “ALTUVE” is sewn across the back of the jersey in navy tackle twill over a matching white nameplate. The 2017 American League MVP’s number “27” is sewn on the back of the jersey in navy and white tackle twill. A Majestic tag with an attached size “42” flag is sewn on the front left tail above a Majestic QR code tag. A large dirt stain is present on the chest of this jersey.

Also included in this lot are Altuve’s throwback pants from the August 6th game. These pants are white, with a thick red waistband and “Tequila Sunrise” striping down the side of each leg. A Majestic logo is sewn over the back-left pocket. A Majestic tag is applied to the back inside waistband. Dirt stains are present on the front of the pants. The jersey and pants come with individual MLB Authenticated holograms (Jersey: JC 017224, Pants: JC 017174).
