This period photograph (circa-1930) captures Babe Ruth in the midst of some of his signature playful showmanship throwing a mock right cross to the jaw of one John Gilchrist whose signature also appears on the photo signed by Ruth. Mugging for the camera between the two gloved pugilists, is former flyweight boxer Artie McGovern who was assigned the arduous task of beating the Babe back into shape after his abysmal 1925 season. Ruth’s signature is in bold blue fountain pen ink. The 8” x 10” photo contains a few wrinkles and one small tear on the far left side near Gilchrist and is mounted in shiny metallic gold trim and handsomely housed in a very formal looking 18” x 20” gold-leaf frame; comes with full PSA/DNA LOA, certification #B21145.
