Babe Ruth’s unmistakable signature “7-8”runs across the sweet spot of this Official William Harridge American League ball (1940-1945) signed by Ruth in steel tip fountain pen approximately five to 10 years after his playing days were over and a short while before his too-early demise in 1948. The lightly lacquered ball has a couple hard scuffs on its surface and carries a curious inscription on a side panel reading: “6th war loan Le Coq Rouge N.Y. Dec. 2nd 1944 $3000.00.” Written in unknown hand. Red stitched ball contains all Reach manufacturer’s labeling and is in good condition with some scuffs with JSA LOA certification #Y68395.
