Presented here is a heavily inscribed and signed photograph of Bucky Dent hitting his famous home run against the Boston Red Sox in 1978. He wrote “In the 9th inning when I fouled the ball off my foot I went back to the on deck circle. Mickey noticed the bat I was using was cracked. He bid the bat boy to give me the one that wasn’t cracked. Mike Torrez was on the mound. We had runners on 1st and 2nd down 2-0. Mike had thrown some ball up and in on me earlier in the game. On the next pitch he tried to bet one in on me and made a mistake down. I just kind of golfed one into the net. The homerun I hit was the biggest moment of my career. Playing in that one game knowing what it meant to the two cities was unbelievable pressure. A lot of people remember where they were and remember the time. It’s something that doesn’t happen very often and to be a part of history and play with all the best Yankees on that 78 team was tremendous. That day we fulfilled our dreams and capped one of the greatest comebacks in the history of sports. From 11 ½ games behind Boston on August 5th to A.L. champs and to Red Sox fans everywhere I became forever known as Bucky F’n Dent”. Dent added an additional signature, inscribing “10-2-78” beneath it. The signatures and inscription have been written in silver marker. This item comes with a COA from Steiner Sports and a Fanatics Authenticated hologram (0542709).
