In 2009, jockey Calvin Borel led gelding Mine That Bird to a legendary Kentucky Derby victory, overcoming massive 50-1 odds in the process. This was the second biggest upset in Derby history, and Mine That Bird did it in dominating fashion, winning by 6 2/3 lengths. Borel and Mine That Bird’s achievement was commemorated on the cover of Sports Illustrated on May 11th, 2009. This item is a 16 x 20 inch reproduction of that cover, and it has been signed by Borel in blue marker. The jockey inscribed “50-1” beneath his signature. This item, which comes in an 18 x 22 inch frame, comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A82536).
