Offered here is a wonderful baseball photo tintype from the 1880s of a catcher in a formal pose standing upright with his equipment at his feet. With his team name “MYRTLE” across the chest (appears backwards in the photo) in his white long-sleeved shirt and dark letters, this player’s mask is on the ground to the left and his glove to the right. This image appears to have been taken in a studio with an outdoor backdrop. This photo is housed in a fold-out protective brass case that measures approximately 3 x 4 ¼ inches. This item is in good overall condition given its age and the binding is intact. There is fading on the leather surface and edge wear.
