When the argument comes up “who was the greatest ballplayer of all-time?” the answer must be George Herman “Babe” Ruth. Of course everyone knows about his home run prowess, how his career number of 714 and single-season total of 60 lasted for decades. That alone should put the Babe in the top five. But what makes him number one by far, no questions asked, is that from 1915 to 1919 he was also the best left handed pitcher in the American League! Before he decided to concentrate on hitting, Ruth dominated the American League, winning 89 games and even set the World Series consecutive scoreless inning record (29 2/3 innings)!
This atmospheric 1915-1920 large format print shows the Babe in all his southpaw glory. This print appears to be from the 1915 to 1920 period. The print has been mounted to a heavy wood board and is framed in a rustic wood. The piece has seen some use - it’s not a long shot to guess that it was once proudly hung in a tavern or sportsman’s lounge, sharing a wall with Tris Speaker and Ty Cobb. A very attractive piece from when Babe Ruth was better known for throwing a fastball than hitting one. The piece has been framed to 20 x 24 inch dimension.
