Presented here is a 7 7/8 x 10-inch black and white photograph taken by renowned photographer Don Wingfield circa 1956 at the All-Star Game held at Griffith Stadium in Washington, D.C. – home of the Washington Senators. Wingfield was the famed New York Yankee photographer, working for the Bronx Bombers as well as The Sporting News, the Washington Senators and the Topps Company. He also free-lanced work for national magazines such as LIFE and LOOK. His friendly nature and true professionalism endeared him to many players, who many years later would speak fondly of. This photograph shows Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle dressed in his home white with pinstriped New York Yankees uniform with then-Cincinnati Reds slugger Ted Kluszekwski, who’s decked out in his Reds uniform. Both greats are holding their respective bats with Kluszewski’s crossed over Mantle’s bat and a batting cage in the background with gathered reporters. “DON WINGFIELD” is printed on the bottom right in white print. The back of this photo has a “PHOTO BY DON WINGFIELD” stamp when he was based out of Alexandria, Virginia. This photograph displays edge wear with pine holes on the corners and comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1P16128) and has been classified as a Type I photo.
