Presented here is a 7 ¾ x 10-inch black and white photograph of the Mickey Mantle and Ken Boyer taken photographer Don Wingfield circa 1959 and served as the photo for the 1960 Topps Rival All-Star Card #160. Wingfield was the famed New York Yankee photographer, working for the Bronx Bombers as well as The Sporting News, the Washington Senators and the Topps Company. He also free-lanced work for national magazines such as LIFE and LOOK. His friendly nature and true professionalism endeared him to many players, who many years later would speak fondly of. This photograph shows Mantle on the left in his home Yankees uniform holding a bat over his right shoulder and smiling while looking at Boyer on the right in his road Cardinals’ uniform holding a bat over his right shoulder and also smiling, while looking at Mantle. “DON WINGFIELD” is printed in white on the bottom right corner. The back of this photo has a “PHOTO BY DON WINGFIELD” stamp when he was based out of Alexandria, Virginia and other markings including a piece of tape. There are pin holes on each corner and the photograph displays edge wear with a small piece of the upper right corner torn away. This comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1P16132) and has been classified as a Type I photo.
