Julius Winfield Erving spent his entire 11-year NBA career as leader of the Philadelphia 76ers. With the help of Moses Malone and a supporting cast including Mo Cheeks and Andrew Toney, the small forward claimed the 1983 NBA title by sweeping the L.A. Lakers. It was Erving’s third championship in three trips. He won two ABA titles a decade earlier with the original New York Nets. Erving revolutionized the game, playing it “above the rim.” He is the only player to earn MVP honors in both the ABA and NBA and stands as the NBA’s all-time, fifth-leading scorer. Elected into the Hall of Fame in 1993, Erving stylized the slam dunk. The rest, they say, is history. Erving boldly signed the red-mesh front in black Sharpie across the chest, just below the white “Sixers.” He also inscribed “#6.” The signature is clean and clear. A white, arcing “Sixers” appliqué adorns the front of this reversible, red-mesh, pull-over tank. Likewise, the back has a “6.” The inside tank is white mesh with red lettering/numbering. A singular tag at rear, center collar sports manufacturer (Jesco, Williamsport, Pa.), size (L), and material (100% Nylon). Evidence of use includes sweat stains along the waist hem. The red 6 is wearing away. The tag is yellowed. The waist hem is separating. An LOA from MEARS accompanies this item attesting to its authenticity.
