Offered are four CDVs featuring historical figures in American history. The first photograph of President Abraham Lincoln measures 2 ½ x 3 ¾ inches and shows him sitting at a table leaning on his chair with this left arm. The back of the CDV reads “PUBLISHED BY E. ANTHONY, 501 Broadway, New York. From PHOTOGRAPHIC NEGATIVE, FROM BRADY’S NATIONAL Portrait Gallery”.
The second CDV is a close-up of William Lloyd Garrison, the noted abolitionist and editor of “The Liberator”. This CDV measures 2 ½ x 4 inches with two rounded corners on the top and trimmed corners on the bottom. The back reads “WARREN’S, 289 Washington St., BOSTON. MASS. Under the Superintendence of MR. S. B. HEALD.”.
The last two CDV’s are of abolitionist John Brown. Both CDV’s measure 2 ½ x 4 inches and feature the same picture. There are differences in these two images with one being clearer and having the caption “Your Friend John Brown” and “HIS SOUL IS MARCHING ON”. The second image is faded and reads on the back “PUBLISHED BY JAMES S. EARLE & SON. (EARLES’ GALLERIS,) No. 816 Chestnut Street, PHILADELPHIA.”.
