Presented is an Official American League Lee MacPhail baseball signed by the influential Curt Flood. In his time, Flood was a three All-Star and a Gold Glove Winner for seven consecutive seasons. Beyond his skills, Flood is mostly remembered for challenging the Reserve Clause and demanded free agency by the Commissioner of Baseball at the time Bowie Kuhn. Commissioner Kuhn would deny his wishes and thus the matter would be settled in the Supreme Court. Flood would end up ultimately losing the case, however his trial would have an enormous impact on player contracts as many teams would stop enforcing the Reserve Clause all-together. This baseball is signed in blue ink on the sweet spot of the ball by Flood and the ball shows some signs of aging evident by its yellowish hue however, is in remarkable condition and has a very vintage feel to it. This item comes with a COA from PSA/DNA (AC41448).
