Presented here is a photograph of Darryl Strawberry after winning the 1996 World Series with the New York Yankees. Strawberry has signed and heavily inscribed this photograph in silver marker, writing “I had played on the other side and, for all those years I played with the Mets, we were the talk of the town. To come over to the Yankees, we had this new verve, but not everybody could believe we could win when we were down 0-2 against Atlanta. We came back, won three and finished them off. I was born to play here. I never felt pressure. I understood the fans and I knew what they expected. New York fans are going to make you play. That’s one thing I’ve always loved about them. They always made me rise to the occasion, because if you don’t, they’re going to let you know it. They want you to play up to your abilities and nothing is wrong with that. I’ve been fortunate to be able to play in New York and be successful. There’s no greater place to play. New York is special.” This item comes with a COA from Steiner Sports and a Fanatics Authenticated hologram (0542776).
