Simply and eternally referred to as “The Catch,” it remains one of the most memorable plays in NFL history: With just 51 seconds remaining on the clock, the San Francisco 49ers trailed the Dallas Cowboys 27-21 in the 1981 NFC Championship Game, when wide-receiver Dwight Clark leapt high in the air, in the back of the end zone to retrieve a 16-yard pass from Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana. The play sealed the Cowboys doom and created the defining moment of Clark’s nine-year career with the 49ers. Captured in dramatic black and white and signed flawlessly by Clark in 49er-gold Sharpie, the 16x20 photo is inscribed with “The Catch” and the “1-10-82” date of the game in the upper right hand corner as well as neatly drawn diagram of the play with x’s and o’s finishing with a “TD!” on the upper left-hand side. Photograph has been authenticated by PSA/DNA.
