The Hall of Fame second baseman Eddie Collins played 25 seasons of Major League Baseball, starring for the Philadelphia Athletics and Chicago White Sox before joining the Boston Red Sox as general manager. Collins collected 3,315 hits across his MLB career while maintaining a sky-high .333 batting average. Collins holds one of baseball’s most unassailable records with 512 sacrifice hits, more than 100 greater than Jake Daubert in second and over 400 more than the active leader, Elvis Andrus, as the 2019 season begins.

Offered in this lot is a 10.5 x 8.5-inch envelope signed by the Class of 1939 Hall of Famer. Collins has created an exceptionally large and bold signature, writing “Best Wishes from Eddie Collins” in black steel-tip fountain pen. Stamped on the envelope is “American Base Ball Club of Philadelphia / Twenty-First & Lehigh Avenue / Philadelphia 32, PA” and “Do Not Bend Or Fold”. This envelope comes with a LOA from JSA (Z59950).
