Presented here are two framed presidential paychecks from the 31st and 32nd Presidents of the United States of America, Herbert Hoover and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

The first presidential check belonged to Herbert Hoover, a Republican who presided over the most devastating financial crisis in world history. A former business executive, Hoover’s defeat in the 1932 election stemmed partly from his mismanagement of American finances during the Great Depression, and his strong support of prohibition. This check is dated to July 31st, 1929, almost three months to the day before the stock market crash. It is for the value of $6,500, to be paid by the United States Treasury. It is in good condition, save for cancellation punches and minor wear on the edges. Hoover signed the reverse side of this check in black pen.

The second check was issued to Franklin Delano Roosevelt, America’s longest serving president. Under Roosevelt’s watchful eye, America freed itself from the Great Depression and navigated the perils of World War II to emerge as the greatest super power the world had ever seen. Like the previous check, this one is for the value of $6,500. It is dated to July 31st, 1936, shortly before Roosevelt’s landslide electoral victory over Alf Landon, guaranteeing the New Dealer a second term. Roosevelt signed the back of this check, which is in good condition save for cancellation hole punches, in black pen. These two checks are matted in a double-sided frame that measures 31 x 16 inches. Also included in the display are portraits of Roosevelt and Hoover. The signatures come with a full LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
