With one of the most regal sounding names in baseball history it’s funny that Grover Cleveland Alexander was simply known as “Pete” but it had to be a little confusing growing up with the same name as the President. By any name Alexander remains one of the greatest pitchers in the game, boasting a remarkable 373 wins tied for third place on the all-time list with Christy Mathewson. “Old Pete” reached the World Series three times in his 20-year career famously striking out New York Yankee Tony Lazzeri to finish the 1926 Fall Classic while reported to have still been hung-over after celebrating his previous day’s victory with a long night out on the town in New York City.
Alexander signed this slightly toned, cream-colored 3 x 5 inch index card in blue ink. Alexander’s signature is signed almost completely across the lower center portion of the card with “Yours” inscribed on the top. The card is in good condition, displaying only minor edge wear. A great Grover Cleveland Alexander signature and it comes with a full LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A76069).
