Hall of Fame left-handed pitcher Richard “Rube” Marquard played for four different Major League Baseball teams during his 18-season career. Marquard’s most successful years were 1908 to 1915 when he pitched for the New York Giants. Marquard was the National League strikeout leader in 1911 and the NL wins leader in 2012 and won 23 or more games from 1911-13, helping the Giants capture three consecutive pennants. Marquard pitched a no-hitter against the Brooklyn Robins on the second day of the season on April 15, 1915 at the Polo Grounds.  A control pitcher, Marquard had a record of 201-177 with 1,593 strikeouts. Marquard gained entry into Cooperstown in 1971.

Presented here is a Special Official Cork Center baseball signed and inscribed by Hall of Fame pitcher Marquard. The baseball is stamped with a “5 oz. ALUM TANNED COMPRESSED CORE YARN WOUND NO.962-C” on the west panel of the baseball in black. Marquard signed and inscribed the baseball “To David Bosley. From Rube Marquard” in blue ink on the north panel of the baseball. Marquard inscribed “A member of the Baseball Hall of Fame At Cooperstown, New York” in blue ink on the baseball’s west panel. The signature and inscriptions are bold and feature no bleeding, and the ball features some toning and a scuff mark on the west panel. This comes with a LOA from Beckett Authentication (AA09010) for the signature.
