Widely known as Norton where his character played opposite Ralph Kramden (Jackie Gleason) on the famed comedy “The Honeymooners”, Art Carney was also an accomplished dramatic actor, winning the 1974 Oscar for Best Actor for his role in Harry and Tonto. All Carney had to beat was Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino, Albert Finney and Dustin Hoffman. Besides TV and film, Carney was also an accomplished stage actor and singer. Bet you also didn’t remember Art Carney as the Batman villain, “The Archer”? Carney was also a sketch artist, and this collection of five caricatures is signed in ballpoint pen or Sharpie “Art Carney”. Two are on index type cards (3.75 x 6 inches) while three larger ones (8.5 x 11 inches) are on construction type paper. Several have references to his Ed Norton character and a single example states “John Barrymore” is the drawn image. This is a very nice personal group of five sketches drawn by one of famous all around talents in the entertainment business. This entire lot has been pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
