Sugar Ray Leonard had been weaving in and out of retirement when he faced off against Hector “Macho” Camacho on March 1st, 1997, at the Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City for the IBC Middleweight Championship The 40-year old Leonard, who was at that time recently inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame, faced off against the 34-year old Camacho. Camacho, who had not had a major title fight since his loss to Felix Trinidad in 1994, was eager to face the vaunted boxer. Camacho would go after Leonard from the opening bell, delivering blow upon blow, opening up a cut above Leonard’s eye in the fourth round. Camacho would drop Leonard with a right followed by two uppercuts. Leonard would get up, but couldn’t stem the tide of Camacho’s vicious blows, retreating to the ropes where the referee called the fight, making Camacho the only boxer to ever knock out Leonard. Leonard would retire for the last time after the fight. This presented size medium 100% acetate Ceasars Atlantic City jacket was worn by. Camacho before his historic bout with Sugar Ray Leonard.
