The late Hector “Macho” Camacho was a noted southpaw boxer whose self-promotion and vivacious ring attire were matched only by his talents in the ring. Camacho held three world championship titles in three different weight classes over his 30-year career, including the WBC super featherweight title from 1983-1984, the WBC lightweight title from 1985-1987, and the WBO junior welterweight title twice between 1989 and 1982. Camacho would post a record of 79 wins, 6 losses, 3 draws, with 38 of his wins coming by knockout. Camacho faced off against some of the most feared pugilists in boxing history, with fights against Julio Caesar Chavez, Felix Trinidad, and Oscar De La Hoya that have now become the stuff of boxing legend. He twice beat an aged Roberto Duran and sent Sugar Ray Leonard into permanent retirement after knocking out Leonard during their March 1st, 1997, fight. Presented here is a fight-worn walk-out leather “Macho” star robe worn by the late pugilist. The robe gives off an aura of a superhero costume with its gigantic “M” in blue leather adorning the chest. The red upper leather portion of the robe features gray trim on the sleeves and collar. The long robe features “MACHO” across the back in white leather on a matching red nameplate. Gray zigzag patterns adorn the back of the robe. “B.U.M. EQUIPMENT” appears embroidered in white on a red nameplate on the tail of the long robe. The robe exhibits moderate evidence of match use and contains multiple black stains on the front, back, and shoulders of the robe. An excellent specimen worn by a legendary boxer, the item comes directly from one of Camacho’s former managers with a corresponding letter of provenance that will be included.
