Large Document appointing a Union officer to second lieutenant. Impresive looking crest with a large eagle and the title “President of the United States of America”. Bottom of the document features a ornate illustration of the original flags of the Colonies. Bold fountain pen signature, graded 8-9/10. The document is also signed by Secretary of War Simon Cameron. Usual fold lines. Item is dated 8/25/1861. An incredible piece of American history, written and signed during the Civil War, with the Signature of the 16th President of The United States of America. The fully intact parchment, measuring 13-3/4" x 17-1/2", is extremely well-preserved, and would be considered in excellent condition condition Full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
