Jackie Robinson is one of the most well-regarded and admired athletes in baseball history, and as such his items are always in demand. As the first African-American to play in the Major Leagues in 1947, he ushered in a new era of baseball and since his passing back in 1972, his highly-desirable signatures are less plentiful than other contemporary players.

Offered here is a signed cut of the great Jackie Robinson that has been signed in pencil. Robinson’s signature has been set in a 3 x 3 inch box in a display that features five Jackie Robinson-themed photographs all in a large 30 x 33 ½ inch matted and framed piece. In the display there are three black and white 8 x 10 photographs. One of them shows Robinson on the third base line swinging a bat, another shows him sliding into home plate and one with him in his Dodgers’ uniform in what appears to be spring training talking with and unidentified player. The two color photographs have Robinson holding a bat in his Dodgers’ uniform in a ready stance, with the other photograph showing him making a leaping throw with Pee Wee Reese in the background. A 5 x 5 inch black plate with silver writing reads “JACKIE ROBINSON FIRST AFRICAN-AMERICAN TO PLAY MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL IN THE 20TH CENTURY ROY 1947 NL MVP 1949”. There are minor scratches on the glass portion of this piece but they do not affect the quality of the Robinson signature. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A86044) for Robinson’s signature.
