This lot is part of the Jackie Robinson 71st Anniversary Auction to benefit the Jackie Robinson Foundation

By breaking the Major League Baseball Color Barrier in 1947, Jackie Robinson changed not only the sport of baseball, but American society. As a leader of the Civil Rights movement, Robinson was acknowledged as the second most popular American by a nation-wide poll in 1947, behind only the crooner Bing Crosby. This program measures 9.25 x 12 inches, and features large, black and white images of Robinson on the front and back cover. “Monday November 3rd / 1947” is written on the inside of the front page, dating this program to just after Robinson won the first Rookie of the Year award in Major League history. This program is in good condition, and all the pages remain in the binding. Robinson has signed the front cover of this program in blue pen, while Rachel Robinson, Jackie’s wife, has signed the back cover of the program, also in blue pen. This item comes with a LOA from JSA. Please note that this lot has a 25% Buyer’s Premium. Goldin Auctions will be donating 10% of the winning bid price to The Jackie Robinson Foundation.
