Hall of Famer Jerry West was the inspiration for the NBA logo and was also the catalyst of the early 1970’s Los Angeles Lakers teams. West led the Lakers to the 1972 NBA title and was a 14-time NBA All-Star. West was named to 10 NBA All-NBA First Teams and was a member of the NBA 50th Anniversary Team. West was also the 1969 NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player and was a two-time First All-American at West Virginia. West would later become a highly successful executive with the Lakers, overseeing eight NBA championship teams from 1980 to 2017.

Offered here is a 16-inch tall bust of the great Jerry West. West’s head is made of bronze and rests atop a 6 x 6 x 4-inch wood base. West is sculpted looking slightly to his right. According to the affidavit that accompanies this sculpture, this was given to Hall Bartlett a season-ticket holder with the Lakers in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Bartlett befriended West and some of the Lakers executive staff and was given this sculpture by West as a thank you for the support he had given the team for many years. Prior to Bartlett’s passing in 1993, this sculpture was passed on to Bartlett’s son-in-law and has been in his possession.
