Graded MINT 9 by PSA. Hall of Famer. This is one of a mere ten examples at its tier (with none graded higher) among a total of just over 1,000 copies recorded in PSA's census reporting. The offered card was produced the year after Musial had captured his third N.L. MVP Award. "The Man" finished second in 1949's voting after compiling a .338 average and leading his league in hits, total bases, doubles and triples. This specimen is a highly appropriate commemorative for one of Musial's immensely successful early campaigns. The card's centering is exceptional, and its uninterrupted purple background provides splendid visual accenting for the tinted batting-pose likeness. All four corners are lethally sharp, and the piece's cardstock concedes no readily perceptible age-toning. Here is a truly estimable second-year card of the popular Cardinals superstar, in praiseworthy Mint condition.
