One of the most legendary baseball stories of all-time revolves around Game 1 of the 1927 World Series: as the Yankees "Murderer's Row" took batting practice, a few of the Pirates, led by their star Lloyd Waner, came out to watch. The display of power put forth by Ruth, Gehrig and Lazzeri was supposed to have been so devastating that it demoralized Pittsburgh to such an extent that the Series was essentially over before it even began. Waner vehemently denied the story, saying he wasn't on the field when the Yanks practiced, or heard any of his teammates even discuss the New York bats, but when you see how the series ended in a Yankees sweep, it isn't hard to imagine at least part of the story rings true.
This amazing ticket is signed by all those legendary players involved in that story - Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri and Waner - plus two Pittsburgh pitchers who bore the brunt of New York's onslaught: John Miljius who pitched the last half of the Game 1 and Joe Dawson who relieved in Game 2. Gehrig (9/10), Lazzeri (9/10), Waner (9/10), Miljius (9/10) and Dawson (8/10) have signed in strong black fountain pen, and Ruth penned his name in a distinct, Ty Cobb-esque green ink (8/10). This "First Floor Box" ticket shows some age with the edges a bit ragged and slightly stained, but overall this piece of World Series history displays magnificently. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA.
