Cal Ripken Jr.'s penultimate season in 2000 saw the "Ironman" and MLB record holder for most consecutive games played bat .256 with 79 hits, 15 home runs, and 56 RBI en route to earning his 18th All-Star appearance. Coming directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr., he wore this Baltimore Orioles gray flannel “Turn Back The Clock” jersey and cap during the May 29th, 2000 game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays at Tropicana Field in Tampa. Ripken and the Orioles defeated the Devil Rays 5-1. The button-down jersey was made by Mitchell & Ness and is a size XXL. This button-down jersey has “Baltimore” and a paraph sewn on across chest in orange-on-black felt with Ripken’s number “8” sewn on below in the same orange-on-black felt. Thin black soutache piping runs around the collar and down both sides of the buttons. The Mitchell & Ness tag with an “XXL” flag is sewn on the inside back collar, while a “COOPERSTOWN COLLECTION Mitchell & Ness PHILADELPHIA, PA” tag is sewn on the front left tail. The back of the jersey has “RIPKEN” and “8” sewn on in orange-on-black felt. The jersey displays light use.

Also included in this lot is the matching throwback cap. This size 7 3/8 cap was made by New Era and has a black crown with an orange brim. The Orioles logo is embroidered on the front. Ripken’s number “8” is handwritten in black marker on the green underside brim. The inside of the cap has a “COOPERSTOWN COLLECTION”, “Newe Era” and size “7 3/8” tags on the white sweatband. This cap displays light use. The jersey and cap come directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany these items.
