Offered here is a pair of game used size 11 1/2 Nike black leather cleats worn by Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. during the 1997 MLB Playoffs and signed by the legendary Baltimore Oriole. Ripken Jr. wore these cleats during the 1997 American League Championship Series against the Cleveland Indians and batted a combined .348 with 8 hits, 3 runs scored, 1 home run, and 3 RBI during the series that saw the Orioles lose to the Indians in six games.

These presented cleats feature orange synthetic leather Nike “Swoosh” logos on the instep and outstep of each cleat. Velcro fastened lace guards feature Ripken’s number “8” embroidered in orange thread. Hard rubber soles anchor six stainless steel cleats. Ripken’s initials “C.R.,” flanked by small Nike “Swoosh” logos on each side, are embroidered in orange thread on each heel. The laces of the left cleat are missing. The cleats display excellent evidence of game use and contain wear and stains on the toe guard, minor dirt stains across each cleat, and dirt and wear on the soles. Ripken Jr. signed the outer heel of each cleat with a silver metallic paint pen. The signatures are bold, and the cleats come from the personal collection of Cal Ripken Jr., who attests that these cleats were worn during the 1997 ALCS and were once formally displayed at the Cal Ripken Museum. The cleats come with an LOA from Ripken and an LOA from J.T. Sports (1367-Right Cleat, 1366-Left Cleat) for the game use.
