Graded NM 7 by PSA. Hall of Famer, in his coveted "Rookie Card" appearance. Among more than 1,500 examples recorded in PSA's census reporting, barely fifteen percent have achieved a higher, unqualified tier. This is a superior example of Jerry West's debut card, presented in remarkably favorable condition. The 1961/62 Fleer basketball issue is well-known in the industry for two consistent aspects: the set contains a wealth of rookie cards, and it is notorious for imprecise image centering. The offered card, with its relatively well-balanced overall symmetry, defies that latter element of conventional wisdom. The always-desirable rookie card of the Lakers star is seen here at close to the peak of attractiveness available from its series' often quality-challenged production, and it has also benefited from careful subsequent preservation. A standout West rookie card, in Near Mint condition.
