Since 1988, the WWE has closed out August with its annual SummerSlam event.
SummerSlam is one of the “Big Four” pay-per view events of the year for
the WWE and is second only to WrestleMania. Presented here is one of the ring
skirts used by the WWE for SummerSlam from 1989 through 1997. In those years,
the event was held at Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the
Spectrum in Philadelphia, Madison Square Garden in New York City, Wembley
Stadium in London, The Palace at Auburn Hills in Michigan, Chicago’s United Center,
Pittsburgh’s Civic Arena, Gund Arena in Cleveland and Continental Airlines Arena in
East Rutherford, New Jersey. This blue nylon skirt measures approximately 40 inches x
19 feet 11 inches and has “SUMMER SLAM” sewn on in large orange and yellow
lettering. This item comes directly from the WWE Corporation and an LOA from
the WWE will accompany this item, authenticating its use during the 1989-1997
SummerSlam events.
