Jackie Robinson was one of the most memorable figures ever associated with the game, and inspiring stories, in abundance, exist about all facets of Robinson's career. Accordingly, the great player's scarce rookie card is viewed as an important cornerstone in any accomplished card collection. Robinson's first card is among the key subjects in the intriguing baseball series produced by Leaf Gum Co. in 1948-49, a notably challenging post-war issue. The offered example of that seldom-seen treasure, an enticing piece compromised in grading terms by a vertical crease, leftward image positioning and uniform corner rounding, will fit nicely into a nostalgic assembly.
