Offered is a game worn road jersey from one of the most prolific running backs in NFL history, 7th overall in career rushing yards and owner of the single season rushing record with 2105 yards. This Los Angeles Rams road jersey was worn by Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson during the 1985 season, when he rushed for 1,234 yards. The white mesh jersey features the number "29" on the front, reverse, and each sleeve. His name "DICKERSON" is across the back on a white nameplate just above the number. All letters are appliquéd in blue vinyl directly to the mesh. Located on the left front tail are a "Medalist/Sand-Knit 48" label and a Medalist/Sand-Knit exclusivity label reading in part "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Los Angeles Rams." There is a black marker signature, reading "Best of Luck Eric Dickerson #29" on the front. The jersey is all original and has not been altered with the exception of Dickerson's standard customized neckline. Eric Dickerson's customized neckline was one of the well-known player customizations in the NFL during his career, complementing his large foam neck brace and upright running style. Nice use is exhibited throughout the garment, with some contact marks present along the shoulders. Several areas of the vinyl numbers (notable on the back) reveal multiple scrapes and abrasions. As MEARS notes in its accompanying LOA, this jersey can be dated to the 1985 season due to the Rams' 40th Anniversary patch, which has been removed and replaced at some point. One of the game’s greatest running backs, Dickerson rushed for over 1,000 yards in seven consecutive seasons and led the league in rushing on four separate occasions. When he retired, he was second all time in rushing yards behind only the great Walter Payton, and has registered three of the top 20 rushing seasons of all time. A six time Pro-Bowl participant and five-time First-Team All-Pro selection, Dickerson retired in 1993 with 13,259 yards rushing, and was elected to the Football Hall of Fame in 1999.
