September Card & Memorabilia Auction Ending October 2-3rd
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/2/2021
Offered is an uncut 1958 Gazeta Esportiva sheet featuring individual portraits of Brazil’s 1958 FIFA World Cup soccer team, including Pele, situated around a team portrait in the center of the sheet in his Rookie Card offering. Pele led Brazil to a historic FIFA World Cup victory in 1958, scoring two goals in Brazil’s 5-2 win over Sweden to clinch the tournament. The Brazilians took one of the most stacked teams in soccer history to Sweden, showcasing the immense talents of Mane Garrincha, Djalma Santos, Vava, Dida, Mario Zagallo, and more. Pele’s portrait on this Gazeta Esportiva collectible is situated next to that of Garrincha, another of Brazil’s national icons and the 1962 FIFA World Cup Golden Ball winner. Some surface and edge wear is present on the venerable sheet, and red pen handwriting is present over the “Brasil!!!” wordmark. A gorgeous display piece honoring Brazil’s first FIFA World Cup champions!
