Offered here is a 2 x 3 1/2-inch cut signed by Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig. A six-time World Series winner, Gehrig won the American League MVP trophy in 1927 and 1936 while anchoring the greatest lineup in the history of baseball next to Babe Ruth. In 1932, Gehrig became the first player in the 20th century to collect four home runs in a single game as a part of his fantastic .349/34/151 campaign with 108 walks against 38 strikeouts. Gehrig’s statistics defy belief, with 1,190 of his 2,721 career hits going for extra bases. The tragic circumstances of Gehrig’s death are a part of American folklore, and the seminal Yankee was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1939 to honor his immense contribution to the game of baseball. Gehrig signed this presented cut in black ink. The reverse of the cut features an image of Gehrig and is inscribed “Iron Man of Baseball One of The Greatest First Base Men In Baseball” and “Secured in 1938” by an unknown hand in black ink. The signature is bold, and the cut displays elements of toning. The item comes encapsulated and authenticated by PSA/DNA (83916941), who gave the item the grade of AUTHENTIC AUTO.
