Presented here is a 7 7/8 x 10-inch black and white photograph of Hall of Famers Mickey Mantle and Pee Wee Reese, most likely prior to a World Series game taken by renowned photographer Don Wingfield circa 1950’s. Wingfield was the famed New York Yankee photographer, working for the Bronx Bombers as well as The Sporting News, the Washington Senators and the Topps Company. He also free-lanced work for national magazines such as LIFE and LOOK. His friendly nature and true professionalism endeared him to many players, who many years later would speak fondly of. This photograph shows both Mantle and Reese decked out in their respective uniforms – Mantle in his home pinstriped Yankees uniform and Reese in his Brooklyn Dodgers road uniform. Both greats are looking slightly off-camera to their right, while holding their bats over their right shoulders and resting their elbow on their left knee. “©DON WINGFIELD” is printed in white on the bottom right corner. The back of this photo has a “PHOTO BY DON WINGFIELD” stamp when he was based out of Alexandria, Virginia and other markings. There are pin holes on each corner that have turned into small tears on the upper left and right corners, while also displaying edge wear. This comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1P16133) and has been classified as a Type I photo.
