Presented here is a 7 7/8 x 10-inch black and white photograph of Hall of Famers Mickey Mantle and Frank “Home Run” Baker, taken by renowned photographer Don Wingfield circa 1957. Wingfield was the famed New York Yankee photographer, working for the Bronx Bombers as well as The Sporting News, the Washington Senators and the Topps Company. He also free-lanced work for national magazines such as LIFE and LOOK. His friendly nature and true professionalism endeared him to many players, who many years later would speak fondly of. This photograph shows both Mantle and Baker decked out in their respective home Yankee pinstriped uniforms, with Mantle on the right holding an oversized baseball bat over his right shoulder and smiling with Baker on the left holding a bat over his left shoulder. Both greats are looking slightly off-camera to their right and smiling, with the background having the Yankee Stadium seats with a smattering of fans. The back of this photo has a “PHOTO BY DON WINGFIELD” stamp when he was based out of Alexandria, Virginia and other markings. There are pin holes and tape marks on each corner, while the upper left corner has a slight tear. The photo also displays edge wear and other markings that include small paper loss above and to the right of Baker’s image and above and to the left of Mantle’s image. This comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1P16138) and has been classified as a Type I photo.
